A convicted sex offender has to make sure he (or she) lives a safe distance from any school, but apparently when people want to run a makeshift brothel, being near a school doesn’t phase them a bit.

Yesterday, Clearwater, Florida police received tips that lead them to a brothel just a few blocks away from Clearwater High School. They arrested two women (Paulina Demarolejo, 50 and Concepcion Vicentemorales, 36) on charges of prostitution and one man (Luis E. Figueredo, 60) on charges of receiving profits from prostitution.

Demarolejo was charged with a misdemeanor and released. Vicentemorales is being held for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. What’s that tell you?

Police say brothels commonly operate out of rental apartments in neighborhoods with a high concentration of immigrant residents. I have noticed a rise in certain kinds of crime as more people settle in Clearwater from Mexico. This is just one of the problem areas.
