Fred Thompson, I Rather Liked You
Today, Fred Thompson pulled out of the race for the Presidency. The Republican entered the race later than most candidates and immediately generated a large amount of support. Unfortunately, the support did not maintain the level of intensity needed to go all the way to the nomination.
Many analysts agree that Thompson’s third place finish in Saturday’s South Carolina primary was all the indication he needed to pull out of the race. It may have been money more than anything else that kept Thompson down. As I said, he started late. And, he never pulled even with the other candidates in his fundraising.
Thompson has been a steady Republican force during his political career. That’s more than I can say for the other candidates. Who knows? Maybe we will see Thompson on the ticket anyway – as the vice presidential candidate.
