The Universities of the Future Are Online

I earned by first two bachelors degrees in the early 90s, before the internet had fully come onto the scene. By the time I was ready to add a teaching certificate to my educational arsenal, times had changed and I completed a good number of my courses online.

Personally, I enjoyed the mix of classroom setting and online classes that I took. I thought that it was just the right mix of face-to-face interaction and differently paced instruction. I would not, though, hesitate to pursue a 100% online degree. I think it is the wave of the future. No matter where you are living, you can take classes at colleges nearly anywhere in the world. Not all universities have available online degrees, but more and more institutions are coming in line with the times.

I have a friend who never finished college, but fell into a great job with a government contractor. They were willing to pay for her to go back to school, but at that time she was a single mom with a very real need to still hold down a full time job and still be home with her son in the evenings. She found an online degree that met her needs and now she has her bachelors degree. It was the right fit for her lifestyle.

Columbia Southern University is an online university that offers degrees at the bachelor, masters and even doctorate level. Do you want to get your MBS so you can earn more in your current position? They have a host of MBA programs. There are degrees in hospitality, marketing, information technology and more. Think about it – you can actually earn a college degree and do it all from your home. Yay for technology!
