Proof That Nobody Cares About the Oscars

Did you watch the Academy Awards last night? Neither did I. Not only do the Oscars seems frivolous and obsolete is a world where there is so much war and financial uncertainty, but I also just get sick to death of actors congratulating one another for a job well done.

Where are the televised award ceremonies for the coal miners who risk their lives daily to bring us an energy source? How about a ceremony for school teachers that merits designers vying to dress the nominees or jewelers desperate to loan out 10 carat diamond rings? Instead, we only have an endless strong of awards ceremonies on TV that boost up people who are paid millions of dollars to play make-believe.

And now Nielsen Media Research confirms that preliminary ratings for the 80th annual Academy Awards were are 14 percent below the least-watched ceremony ever and 21 percent lower than last year.

We just don’t care. Besides, I was saving my TV view time for Dexter.
