When I lived in the DC suburbs, Manassas, Virginia was sort of viewed as the backwoods part of Northern Virginia. We went there for El Taco and sometimes to buy fresh bratwurst at this awesome German met market that is now a Mexican market.

You have to give it to the lawmakers in Manassas, though. The Manassas City Council passed a resolution that will allow specially trained police officers to check the legal status of suspected illegal immigrants charged with offenses such as murder, DUI, theft and rape.

The Mexicans without Borders groups says it will just lead to racial profiling.

I say that it is a giant step forward in removing illegal individuals who are committing crimes. Send them back to their home countries to wreck havoc. Leave us with the law-abiding immigrants that entered our borders on the up-and-up.
