Music and Technology
One of my very best friends from back in high school, Christine, was always one of my more artistic friends. I only knew then that she was talented with drawing, painting and sculpture. Actually, it turns out that is all she knew about herself back then as well. Once she went to college and started out on her own in the world, she discovered her love for writing music, and performing.
She has since trained in classical musical styles, opera and the like. She has taken classes in music composition as well as music production. She currently makes a living as a VJ/DJ in Manhattan, but her real love is performing. She has a new band and has written some amazing stuff. She records it all herself and uses computer music software to compose, notably Finale®.
I think back to high school and my friends who were recording their own stuff back then. They had to rent major equipment and studio time. It was a massive production. Now all you need in the right software, your laptop and your God-given talent. I’m honestly amazed at the work Christine is able to produce on her own. Well, on her own along with the other members of her band.
