A REAL Love Story

In a world where over 50% of all marriages end in divorce, including my own, I love to hear a love story that actually ends in “til death do us part.”

Here in Clearwater, Florida Bill Caswell, 83, was in the hospital with bone cancer and ready to die. He told his family he felt ready, but he did not like the idea of dying before his wife.

He had not seen his wife, Miriam, 87, in the six weeks he had been in the hospital, because she had been suffering from dementia, bedsores and other complications in a Clearwater nursing home since November.

On Friday, February 29, family gathered to say goodbye to Bill. In the meantime, though, a call was received saying that Miriam was being brought to the hospital emergency room. The family shifted into the ER to say their goodbyes to Miriam.

Her final words were, “Tell Daddy I love him”. At 9:18 p.m. she was removed from support.

At 9:20 p.m. a phone rang again. Bill had just died. Then, at 10:55 p.m. Miriam followed her beloved husband into death.

They had been inseparable for 58 years and ended up dying within an hour and a half of each other in the same hospital.

I’m actually crying as I write this. It’s about the most dear thing I have ever heard.
