Pink Poodle Fine
I think the government already goes too far in setting down laws that are both asinine and insignificant. Why can’t our law system focus on real issues, like illegal immigration and drug trafficking. Instead, courts like those in Boulder, Colorado are wasting tax payer money by attempting to fine Joy Douglas $1,000 for coloring her poodle pink.
There is a law on the local books that says “No person shall dye or color live fowl, rabbits, or any other animals.” It is meant to keep people from dyeing rabbits and chicks at Easter. Douglas says she is not actually dyeing her pup, but rather staining its fur with natural beet juice.
I think it is ridiculous that anyone would even take it upon themselves to report Douglas. But apparently, the people at the Humane Society of Boulder Valley have nothing better to do with their time. Instead of focusing on people who leave their dogs chained in their yards or let them run wild in the streets – they are all puffed up over a pink poodle.
Douglas colors her pup in order to raise awareness for breast cancer. I think it is an admirable gimmick.
