Insane Medical Costs
Holy cow, I am getting irritated with the price of my medical plan going up while the overall benefits go down. I was paying less last year and all I had to cover were my co-pays. Now, not only do I pay more monthly, I pay a co-pay plus at least 10%. Right now I take COBRA, so I am limited to what the company my ex-husband used to work for is offering their employees. They cut the plan I used to have, despite the fact that I am sure people loved it as much as I did.
Medical care in this country is just such a mess. I ended up in the ER last month and the charged they attempted to bill my insurance company were insane. Absolutely insane. Anyone walking in there without insurance would have been financially ruined for months to come. Even people who qualify for Medicare end up having to take out Medicare supplementplans just to ensure they are not hit will medical bills that make them unable to pay for food our housing.
Many politicians recognize that we need some sort of medical plan for the nation, but I think if would regulate the medical industry itself and also look at tort reform more seriously, we could drive down medical costs at the root. The, insurance companies could be regulated, but you have to do things in order, cut the head off the snake first – so to speak.
