Snickerdoodles
I’m in the mood for Snickerdoodles. My sister makes them the best, so I am going ot use her recipe. Of course, she was not always skilled at the making of Snickerdoodles. The first time she attempted them back in her high school days, she made them without any baking soda or baking powder!
1 cup shortening (or butter)
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar (or baking powder)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
Combine all dry ingredients. Blend all wet ingredients and add to dry mixture.
Roll in balls the size of walnuts. Roll each ball in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Place two inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 400º for 8 to 10 minutes.
