You never know who may have the locker right beside your child. Maybe it’s someone hiding pot in their locker, wearing revealing clothing. You worry and hope your own kid is smart enough to not be influenced by someone with lesser values.

But, how many of us even dream that their child might be attending school with a murderer who was carrying on with his life like nothing was amiss.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office has arrested David Alexander Bostick for the 2006 murders of Patrick and Evelyn DePalma of Masaryktown , Florida.

Bostick is a student at Freedom High School in Tampa. Or, he was recently. The news coverage has been vague. In any case, he is now 18, was definitely a juvenile in 2006, and is related to the couple (he was a great-great-nephew) – who he called “Uncle Pat” and “Aunt Evelyn.”

The weekend before Halloween in 2006, Bostick and two others were running errands. They eventually ended up at the home of DePalmas, where they were welcomed into the house to sit and talk.

Bostick supposedly left the home to get a cell phone out of the car. When he came back in the house, the DePalmas had been stabbed repeatedly. Then Bostick and his two ransacked the house and left with a garbage bag full of the items. It looks like they also stole the couple’s SUV, ditching it later.

Pretty pathetic excuse, don’t you think? He left to get something out of the car and in that short time, the other guys butchered the couple. Riiight.

Evelyn DePalma was 79 and Patrick DePalma was 84. Patrick was a veteran, blind in one eye, and described by neighbors as gentle.

Bostick is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center in Ocala. The two other suspects are expected to be named shortly.

Just think, these kids returned to school after a senseless, brutal murder. They mingled with other kids, resumed their lives, and lived in freedom for two years.

I sincerely hope they get the death penalty, all three of them.

EDIT: It is to Bostick’s detriment that I am getting profanity-filled e-mails about this article. You are known by the company you keep and this guy’s supporters are certainly crude and offensive. If these idiots would stop and remember that Bostick he confessed to his role in the murders. He was, in the very least, the enabler. He helped ransack the house after the murders. He also went on living his life after the murders. What completely innocent person does that?
