Timepiece Overkill
Holy cow. You should see how many old watches I have in my jewelry box. My daughter was sitting on her bed last week going through my things, trying on necklaces and rings, just like any other kid. I looked over and she had 5 watches on one of her arms.
I went over to look at the watches and not a one worked. I recalled that years ago thereof them stopped working all at the same time. In other words, I realized they were all not working anymore and had all stopped at exactly the same time. I suppose I saving those for a future time when someone can explain that phenomenon to me.
But, why am I keeping the others. My daughter was wearing 5, but there were three more in the jewelry box. None work, some have broken bands or scratched faces. None are worth very much money. Some are basic Timex watches, others I bought from street vendors.
So, I gave them all to my daughter to play with. I have two watches I wear now. One is on a chain and is great for when I am working around kids or when it is too hot and humid here in Florida to wear a wristwatch. The other is a phenomenal watch that was given to me by a relative, someone who cleaned out her own collection of luxury watches and generously bestowed upon me one of the coolest in her collection.
So, I have no reason to hang onto all those old, mediocre, broken watches, do I?
