From Cute Boys to Dental Insurance

Sometimes I actually long for the days when a conversation between my sister and I centered on the topics of cute boys, after-school jobs, cool songs, and borrowing each other’s clothes. We may not have got along as well when we were teens, but that lack of stress and responsibility in my young life holds a lot of sentimentality for me.

When we talk now, in these times when we actually get along so much better, the conversation turns to school curriculums, effective discipline for our children, term life insurance options, and the merits of carrying dental insurance for her family. That last topic was what enveloped us for over half an hour last night on the phone. I have decent dental insurance and pay a little under $18 a month for it, but I still wish it covered more. In all actuality, no dental plan is going to cover anything very well once you get past regular cleanings and a couple of silver fillings. Since I am part of a group rate, apparently my premium is reasonable. When my sister called my dental insurance company she found out it would cost a good deal over $100 monthly to cover her family of three. Yikes.

Yes, those days of innocence and being fully supported by my parents are sorely missed.
