Which New Digital Camera Should I Buy?
I have an irrational attachment to my old digital camera. I know how to use it so well, so thoroughly, that I think I am afraid to start over with a new camera. I have an old Olympus and even though it is only 2.1 MegaPixils, I know how to make it sing and can pull out higher quality pictures than most people who buy high-end digital cameras, but don’t know how to get the optimum performance out of them.
At my daughter’s pre-school program this past Sunday night I realized that although my close-up pictures were superior, I am just not getting the performance out my camera that I desire when it comes to long shots. I looked at my mom’s digital camera and realized that the only reason she is not getting good shots is that she really does not know how to use the thing. I got out her instruction book and a spare SD card I had on my desk and I started playing with it. What I realized is that my learning curve with a new digital camera is not all that steep and I may as well get over my fear and just replace my camera with something awesome.
The next part of the struggle is going to be choosing. When I bought my Olympus back in 2000, there weren’t the sheer number of digital camera on the market that there are now. I want the best, the absolute best. I don’t want to overspend, though. I’m taking suggestions! If you love your digital camera, comment and tell me why – and what camera you own.
