The Neighborhood Superman
We take pride in this house we live in right now. It’s small, but it’s tidy. The lawn is one of the best in the neighborhood and I have taken a considerable amount of time putting in flowerbeds, fruit trees, flowering trees, and lush potted plants that I hang off of shepherd’s hooks. The house has been recently painted, the roof is still in good shape, and we just had a new garage door installed.
Of course, I live next door to the Superman of our neighborhood. His lawn is the one lawn that looks even better than ours. He built an amazing two-story detached garage out in his large back yard and as I write this I can hear the soft thump-ump of his air tools as he works on the extension he is putting on the house. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not jealous. Together, we bring up the property values in our community. I just wish I was as handy as this guy – or that I at least had a man in my life that was as handy. Even when I was married, he was tenuous at best when it came to small home repairs.
Ah, the neighborhood Superman – at least he keeps me motivated.
